Engram is a Mac menu bar app from áddet. It is built to keep your face timeline private on the computer you use.

Face data

Engram captures still photos of your face using the Mac camera (and, if you enable them, optional short live-motion clips). Captures may include simple on-device labels derived from Apple’s Vision framework on your Mac (for example whether a face is present, approximate smile / eyes-open cues, and lighting). Engram does not create Face ID-style biometric templates, does not identify people against a database, and does not use face data for advertising or ranking.

Face photos and related metadata are stored only in Engram’s local folder on your Mac. They are not uploaded, synced, or shared with áddet or any third party. You can delete captures in the app or by removing Engram’s local data folder. Retention is under your control on your Mac.

Face data is used only to power your private on-Mac timeline, library, search, and related local views (for example skipping empty frames when no face is present, or showing day history). áddet has no remote copy of your face photos and cannot access them.

What Engram stores

Captures and related metadata (for example time, optional coarse location, optional desktop frames beside a snap, and on-device context such as the frontmost app) are saved only in Engram’s local folder on your Mac (inside the app’s sandboxed Application Support container). You can open that folder from the app.

What Engram does not do

Engram does not create an account, sync to iCloud or any other service, upload captures, or send analytics about your timeline. There is no Engram cloud. Face data and other captures are never shared with third parties by Engram.

Retention and deletion

Captures remain on your Mac until you delete them in Engram or clear Engram’s local data (the app’s sandboxed Application Support / container folder). Removing Engram.app alone may leave that folder on disk; delete the folder to fully remove captures. Engram does not retain any off-device copy. Retention length is entirely under your control on your Mac.

Permissions

Depending on what you enable, macOS may ask for Camera, Microphone, Screen Recording, and Location. These are used only to capture and annotate events on your Mac. Camera is required for face snaps. Microphone, Screen Recording, and Location are optional. Location, when enabled, is stored approximately (about city or neighborhood scale), not as precise coordinates for tracking.

Purchases

If you buy Engram on the Mac App Store, Apple processes payment under Apple Media Services terms. Engram itself does not receive your card details.

The Engram marketing site is static. It does not use accounts or a product analytics backend. Your browser may still send normal request logs to the host that serves the pages.
